BAPE® x THE OG PRESENT HYPERREAL: IDENTITY, MYTH, AND MEMORY

BAPE® and culture-shaping publication THE OG come together to present HYPERREAL: IDENTITY, MYTH, AND MEMORY, a groundbreaking exhibition curated by The Online Gallery creative director Ché Morales. The exhibition spotlights six dynamic artists - Brandon Breaux, Brendan Fernandes, Esperanza Rosas, Julian Gaines, Sydnie Jimenez, and Yvette Mayorga - and will be on display at BAPE STORE® CHICAGO starting April 26th.

HYPERREAL is more than a visual exhibition—it’s a cultural statement. Grounded in BAPE®’s ethos of FEARLESS EXPRESSION, the show channels the raw, imaginative energy of Chicago’s creative scene to offer an immersive look at how artists reimagine selfhood and place. Through bold aesthetics, surreal storytelling, and layered visual language, the participating artists challenge the boundary between reality and imagination, constructing new narratives rooted in lived experience, ancestral memory, and the ever-shifting identity of the city itself. Featured artists include a curated selection of Chicago-based and nationally recognized talent whose practices span painting, photography, sculpture, ceramics, and mixed media. Each artist was chosen for their ability to reflect and reshape the visual DNA of contemporary Chicago while pushing conversations around authenticity, visibility, and transformation.

THE OG EDITION 14, presented in partnership with BAPE®, will feature the HYPERREAL artists and will be available in limited quantities. Each edition of THE OG showcases diverse artists, curators, and cultural innovators, amplifying their voices while challenging traditional boundaries of accessibility and exclusivity.

HYPERREAL runs from April 26 – May 23, 2025 at the BAPE STORE® CHICAGO at 113 E. Oak Street in Chicago and artwork will be available for purchase. BAPE STORE® CHICAGO is open Monday through Friday 11am - 7pm, Saturday 10am - 7pm, and Sunday 12pm - 6pm.
