A BATHING APE® will be collaborating with "E.T.", a classic science fiction film that has never faded away.
Academy Award-winning director Steven Spielberg presents "E.T.", one of the greatest masterpieces in the history of cinema. The film stars Henry Thomas, Drew Barrymore, and Robert MacNaughton. This is the story of a 10-year-old boy who tries to help E.T., an alien stranded on Earth, get home. The power of trust, courage, and irreplaceable friendship has transcended time and touched people of all generations who have watched the film. The popularity of the film has not diminished over the years since its release in 1982, and it will celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2022.
This collaboration, commemorating the 40th anniversary of the release of "E.T.", brings together iconic scenes and characters from "E.T." in the design language of BAPE®︎ to deliver a collection that is a mixture of nostalgia, charm, and street mood.
The graphic, which captures the scene where "Elliot" sets off into the night sky under a full moon with "E.T." in the basket of his bicycle, is specially designed with the APE HEAD as a glowing full moon. In addition, the upper sleeve ribs of the sweatshirt are printed with E.T.'s parting words "I'll...be...right...here" from the emotional final scene. The print features famous scenes and lines from "E.T." with BAPE®︎'s unique approach.
Of course, the red hoodie is a tribute to "Elliot's" outfit. Meanwhile, from the BABY MILO®︎ series, a long sleeve T-shirt featuring BABY MILO®︎ and "E.T.", also setting off into the night sky, and a T-shirt featuring three characters in a row, including Elliot with the MILO touch.
In addition, the back print of the T-shirts will glow in the dark, and the sleeves of the long sleeve T-shirts have reflective prints in reference to the film's setting at night. The tribute to "E.T." has been incorporated into every detail throughout the collection.
Celebrating the milestone of "E.T." and bringing back pure childhood memories, the BAPE®︎ x "E.T." collaboration collection will be available at select A BATHING APE® authorized stores and US.BAPE.COM from September 3, 2022 (Saturday).
